MT. HOLLY SPRINGS — Bidding in the fifth annual online auction to benefit the Amelia Givin Library in Mt. Holly Springs starts at 6 a.m. Friday and continues through 9 p.m. Oct. 27.

The goal is to raise at least $9,000 from the more than 215 items up for sale to purchase new library material, maintain programs and cover general expenses, library director Cynthia Thompson said.

New this year at www.ameliasauction.org is a wide variety of sports memorabilia including a Cal Ripken Jr. baseball, a Hines Ward jersey and a brick from Yankee Stadium.

“That is a new kind of item for the sports enthusiasts out there,” Thompson said. “There is a really nice variety. Something for everybody.”

Listed items include handcrafted gifts, theater tickets, Gerald Putt artwork, a guided kayak trip, quilts, a plane ride over Mt. Holly, a beach house for a week at Stone Harbor and gift cards to local stores and restaurants.

To participate, bidders can register online at www.ameliasauction.org. For more information, call the library at 486-3688. The online auction is sponsored by Miller & Miller law firm LLC of Boiling Springs.
