No one wants to hear the words “it’s cancer.”
According to the National Cancer Institute, the reality is that 39 percent of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime.
Fortunately, Carlisle has its very own Cancer Center right here in South Middleton Township. Many people are not aware that the Carlisle Regional Cancer Center offers a wide range of services for cancer patients as well as hematology patients.
CRMC is proud to have two board certified medical oncology and hematology physicians and a nurse practitioner to provide our patients with the most current therapies according to National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines.
An on-site lab and chemotherapy suite truly make us a one stop shop for oncology and hematology services. A dedicated nurse assists patients in obtaining their oral chemotherapy prescriptions, and experienced billing staff assist patients with financial concerns and help to identify funding resources for treatment when possible.
The Carlisle Regional Cancer Center also houses a complete Radiation Oncology suite. Our board certified Radiation Oncologist works with a team of skilled staff members to provide our patients with the most precise treatment plans possible. With the addition of a new 64 slice 4-D CT Simulator in 2015, the CRMC Radiation Oncology suite is the only place a patient needs to go for Radiation Oncology services. The recent addition of Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) and respiratory gating to our list of services has enabled us to provide high dose precisely targeted radiation to certain tumors in as few as 5 treatments.
Providing Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology services in one location gives patients the opportunity to undergo their treatments in the same place and allows Carlisle Regional to provide a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. It is not uncommon for a patient to receive laboratory services, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy and to see one or both of their physicians in one visit to the Cancer Center.
All of the staff at Carlisle Regional Cancer Center strive to provide safe, patient centered care. We treat our patients like they are part of our family. It is our hope that you never need our services, however, if you ever find yourself in need of us, we will be here for you.
