The Cumberland County Homebuyers Coalition is sponsoring a free homebuyers workshop 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Days Inn Carlisle, 101 Alexander Spring Road. Lunch will be provided.
The homebuyers workshop is designed to help educate prospective first-time homebuyers. Topics covered at the workshop include: is buying a home the right choice; how to prepare for home ownership; explanation of real estate terminology; what is the role of the real estate agent; what do lenders expect from borrowers and explanation of the mortgage process; how to find a home that you can afford; credit report and counseling; budgeting for housing expenses; how to avoid predatory lending practices and more. Instruction is provided by an experienced housing counselor and is supplemented by housing industry speakers and video presentations.
Any prospective homebuyer can benefit from knowledge gained in this workshop. In addition, completion of this HUD certified workshop is often required for special home financing programs and/or grants offered throughout southcentral Pennsylvania.
