Marion D. Heckler (nee Heckman), 88, passed on February 25, 2018 in Venice, Fl. Born November 30, 1929 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, she was a graduate of Chambersburg High School and Chambersburg Business College. She married David M. Heckler on September 3, 1949. They were blessed with three sons: Steven, Thomas and William. The family settled in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where Marion was secretary in the athletic department of Dickinson College. For fourteen summers she additionally served as secretary for the Washington Redskins football team while they trained at Dickinson College. From 1974—1980 Marion was the secretary to the Athletic Director (husband David) at Carlisle High School until their retirement to Naples, Florida in June of 1980. In 2000 they moved to Port Charlotte, Florida and in 2015 relocated to Village on the Isle, a retirement community in Venice, Florida. Surviving are her husband of 68 wonderful years, David, an older brother John Heckman of Lynchburg, Virginia and three sons Steven (Yvonne) of Venice, Florida, Thomas (Kathleen) of Fountain Hills, Arizona and William (Sandra) of Cedar Key, Florida. She is also survived by granddaughters Bethany and Jennifer (Alex), grandson Brian (Kristen), four great grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the professional care received from the doctors and nurses at Venice Regional Bayfront Hospital. A memorial service will be held at her church at a later date.
