Luther R. “Sonny” Kulp Jr.

Luther R. “Sonny” Kulp, Jr. age 88, of Newville, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
He was born October 25, 1929 in Nantmeal, PA to the late Luther C. and Edna (Whitwam) Kulp.
Sonny retired from the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation after 39 years of service. He was a lifelong farmer and was proud that he butchered his own steers and hogs. He was a life member of West Pennsboro and the Upper Frankford Fire Companies and was always the “soup maker” for the summer fairs.
He is survived by: his wife of 68 years, Marian E. (Allison) Kulp of Newville; three sons, Brian (wife Debbie) Kulp of Newville, Russell Kulp of Carlisle and Luke (wife Linda) Kulp of Carlisle; three daughters, Vonnie (husband Bill) Carper of Wisconsin, Patricia A. (husband Gerry) Richwine of Carlisle and Ellen (husband Mike) Yohn of Carlisle; a brother, John (wife Faye) Kulp of Pottstown; sister-in-law, Marilyn Kulp of Uwchland, PA; twenty grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by a son, David A. Kulp and a brother, Ronald Kulp.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Barbara Albert officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
