Country recording artist Jason Sturgeon will be the featured musical guest at the 2012 Carlisle GM Nationals this Saturday, June 23.
Sturgeon has a tie with the automotive world as he is a self-proclaimed “gear head.” Additionally, his current single “Time Bomb” is the theme song for the Monster Truck Nationals Tour on which Jason is also the featured performer. The “Time Bomb” video debuted at No. 3 on the CMT High Five Video Countdown and the single is currently climbing the country charts.
“Time Bomb,” is autobiographical for the Indiana native whose love affair with cars and motor sports has been a lifelong passion. After graduating high school Sturgeon planned to head to Nashville but attended Vincennes University instead and worked as a medical device engineer for a time.
Sturgeon eventually started his own cover band and began playing in the Indiana area. The band opened for artists like Brooks & Dunn, Rodney Atkins and Luke Bryan, and released their own CD in 2008. Tapped to be part of Kenny Chesney’s “Next Big Star” competition, the band nearly won, but soon went their separate ways. Sturgeon then teamed up with Dane Clark, a member of John Mellencamp’s band, to co-write and co-produce his debut solo CD, “That’s Me.”
According to Sturgeon’s website, the singer will also be in Mechanicsburg on Friday, June 22, to perform at the Williams Grove Speedway. For more information on Jason Sturgeon visit www.jasonsturgeonmusic.com.
