Carlisle Construction Materials has begun work on a new research and development building at its facility campus at 1555 Ritner Highway in Carlisle.

York-based Stewart & Tate Construction, the general contractor on the project, announced the project in a news release Monday. The 42,000-square-foot building will replace the company’s current

Tech Center Building and will house testing labs, support office, conference and collaboration spaces. Core Design Group of York is the project architect.

The building is being designed to add a second story over the front office area in the future, according to the news release.

Construction is slated for completion in June 2018 and the cost of the building was not immediately available.
