WILLIAMSPORT — The Dickinson men’s soccer team turned in an outstanding performance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, but suffered a 2-1 loss at host Lycoming College on Sunday afternoon. The Red Devils advanced to the second round with a 2-1, overtime win over Rowan University on Saturday.
The match started with a bang as the teams both went on the attack, trading goals in a span of less than a minute, before reaching the 30 minute mark of the first half.
Shippensburg First-year Ward Van de Water worked his way through the defense and actually beat Tuano to find space to drive a bullet into the net for the equalizer, just two minutes later.
The Warriors were awarded back-to-back corners with 32:58 remaining, with the Red Devils arguing that the second should have been a goal kick. It proved to be costly as Abdi scored off the corner to put Lycoming in front, 2-1.
The Red Devils finish the season, 13-5-3 overall.
