Three injured in collision with deer

Three people from Mt. Holly Spring were taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center with injuries of unknown severity after a deer jumped in front of their 2007 Suzuki X1-7 Friday, according to state police at Carlisle.

William C. Oyler, 55, Linda F. Oyler, 53, and Stephanie M. Oyler, 24, were wearing seat belts, police said. A 1-year-old boy who was in a child safety seat was not injured, police said.

William Oyler was driving south when the incident happened at 6:48 p.m. in South Middleton Township on Holly Pike about 230 feet north of Pine Road, police said.

Yellow Breeches EMS, Mt. Holly fire department and Mullen’s Towing assisted at the scene, police said.

A hospital spokeswoman said Monday that all three Oylers had been treated and released.




Drivers charged in two-car crash

Two drivers were charged after a crash on Route 34 in Perry County’s Carroll Township Friday afternoon, state police at Newport said.

Michael L. Manning of New Bloomfield drove into the oncoming lane of traffic and hit a vehicle driven by Shermansdale resident William C. Stuck before crashing into a utility pole.

Manning was charged with “driving on roadways laned for traffic,” or disobeying lane rules, police said.

Stuck was charged with driving on a suspended license and for driving without insurance.

Stuck was not injured, but Manning went to Carlisle Regional Medical Center as a precautionary measure.




Purse stolen in South Middleton Township

Someone took a woman’s purse from a bench at Midway Skating Rink, 1561 Mt. Holly Pike in South Middleton Township, at 3 p.m. Sunday, according to state police at Carlisle.

The thief then used and attempted to use the woman’s debit and credit card at numerous local businesses, for a total loss of about $350. Investigation continues.




Carlisle man charged with false reports

Christopher Weiss was charged Thursday with falsely reporting that four juveniles had robbed him and taken his medications, according to Carlisle police.

Weiss, 30, is of the 300 block of North Bedford Street, police said, and he told them the incident happened there at 1 p.m. Tuesday.




Ring missing in Shippensburg

A Chambersburg woman reported her purse stolen from her vehicle sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 27, when the car was parked at the Hot Point Inn in Southampton Township, Cumberland County.

The purse was found on Oct. 25 by an EMS unit while on route to a call. When the woman retrieved her purse, she noticed a wedding ring was missing. The ring is 10k gold with a single small white diamond.

Robbery reported in Carlisle

A 56-year-old Carlisle man told Carlisle police that he was “mugged” between 11:45 p.m. Thursday and 12:15 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Bedford Street.

The man said two people approached him from behind while he was walking home and demanded his money and credit cards, police said. The man was then struck on the head with an unknown object and knocked to the ground. The assailants took the man’s wallet and ran off, police said, adding that the man suffered a laceration to his head that required medical treatment.

The brown leather tri-fold wallet contained approximately $20 and a credit card, police said.




Trick-or-Treat assault reported in Carlisle

An 18-year-old male was attacked while he was trick-or-treating with friends Thursday evening. According to Carlisle police, the victim reported a green Kia with at least four or five black males attacked him after he refused to share his Halloween candy with them about 7:30 p.m.

The teen said he made his way to a front porch in the 800 block of West North Street, police said, where the attack continued until a resident called police. The fight damaged the front porch railing, police said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police at 243-5252.




Tires slashed in Carlisle

A Carlisle woman discovered all of her tires were slashed sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. The car was parked in the 400 block of North Hanover Street. Anyone with information is asked to call Carlisle Borough Police at 243-5252.




Man charged with DUI after crash

A Carlisle man was charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after a crash Saturday morning on South Hanover Street.

According to Carlisle police, Jeremy Stuck, 28, of Redwood Lane, was driving backwards the wrong way on South Hanover Street. He then drove across the median onto North Hanover Street. At some point, police said, Stuck struck a vehicle on South Hanover, forcing it into another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

According to police, Stuck had a blood alcohol content of 0.195, more than twice the legal limit.




Man charged with making false reports

Police say a Shippensburg man who stabbed himself in the leg to frame another man is charged with making false reports.

According to state police at Chambersburg, the stabbing was reported around 5:46 a.m. Oct. 28 as the alleged victim — John Jacob Brownawell Jr., 18 — drove himself to the Chambersburg Hospital. At the hospital, Brownawell said he was approached in an alley off Earl Street in Shippensburg by a man who stabbed him in the left and fled.

Police say subsequent questioning, further investigation and an alleged witness to the stabbing revealed that Brownawell purchased a pocket knife at a local store and used it to inflict the stab in his own left thigh.

Police say a witness told them Brownawell wanted to frame a man with whom he has a ongoing dispute. The witness also told police Brownawell wanted to collect disability from his employer.




Microwave stolen in Greene Township

State police at Chambersburg say a Sunbeam microwave oven was taken from the home of a 53-year-old woman in the 2200 block of Stillhouse Hollow Road, Greene Township, some between Oct. 21 and Oct.. 28.




Tools, guitar stolen in Southampton Township

Twelve sets of wrenches and sockets and a Fender guitar were stolen from a Southampton Township home on Oct. 22, according to state police at Carlisle.

The burglar gained entry to the detached garage and home in the first block of Fish Hatchery Road between 3 and 11 a.m. that day, police said, noting the estimated loss is estimated at $2,250.
